Invitation to Islam

Introduction to Islam

I would like to extend an invitation for you to learn about the core message of Islam. The first resource is a video discussing whether there is a True Religion, and the other is a small book that talks about what Islam is all about:

Both the lecturer and the author, like myself, are converts to Islam.

Embracing the Faith

Embracing Islam is a simple process; it involves uttering the testimony of faith:

Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasooluhu
I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger

That's all there is to it. If you say the testimony of faith and truly believe in it, you have embraced Islam and are now a Muslim. It is not necessary to have witnesses to embrace Islam. Therefore, don't hesitate to utter the testimony of faith. Focus on the primary matter at hand: your belief in the truth of Islam. Secondary issues should not be your primary concern at this stage. Remember, we can never predict when death will occur. So instead of getting caught up in secondary considerations, prioritize affirming your faith. The testimony of faith is crucial, as life after death leads to either Paradise or Hell. Hopefully, you will find people among your Muslim brothers and sisters who can help you learn the prayer in a practical manner.

In certain Christian denominations, Jesus (peace be upon him) is revered as divine. However, from an Islamic perspective, it is essential to recognize that Jesus is a prophet and slave of Allah. He was created by Allah and born to a mother without a father. Likewise, it is important to understand that, according to Islamic belief, Jews should also acknowledge Jesus as a prophet of Allah. This understanding is considered a significant aspect of the Islamic testimony of faith.

‘Ubaadah ibn as-Saamit (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever bears witness that there is no god [worthy of worship] but Allah, alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, that ‘Eesa (Jesus) is the slave and Messenger of Allah, and His word which He communicated to Maryam, and a spirit from Him; and that Paradise is true and Hell is true, Allah will certainly admit him into Paradise, regardless of the deeds which he has done." Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim.

Judgment and Faith

Regarding anyone who receives the call of Islam in a clear and sound manner, proof has been established against them. However, if a person passes away without having received this call, or if it reached them in a distorted or unclear form, then the judgment of their case rests with Allah. He knows His creation best; your Lord will never wrong anyone. Allah possesses complete knowledge of His slaves. It was authentically reported that Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, anyone from this nation, whether Jew or Christian, who hears of me and then dies without believing in that with which I was sent, will be one of the dwellers of the Fire." (Narrated by Muslim, 153)
